A Great Weekend

This past weekend Cody and I went to Show Low for a little get away and to see my parents. All week I was so excited to just leave. I bout drove my boss crazy and Cody for that matter. Well after leaving 30 minutes after planned, we were on our way. We made the boring journey across the reservation but time flies when I ride with Cody. We always find something to talk about and other times we just sit there holding hands. Well we finally got to Show Low even through a bit of a storm but we made it safely. We went to Kaylee and Matt's reception which was very cute. I actually cried...don't really know why. When we left there, we went to dinner at Licano's and probably made fools of ourselves but it was worth it. Mom and I started talking about all of our cleaning experiences and we tried to do the silent laugh but definitely couldn't. I don't know which story was the best. There is the one where dad was opening the gate in the lightning storm and I honked the horn and he jumped and then chucked the keys at the windshield. Or when he had gone to the doctor one day and the doctor told him his weight was dangerous and he was a time bomb. That night he was going slow and I was trying to talk to him about losing weight and he pretended to have a heart attack by grabbing his heart and saying, "My heart my heart." I said, "Dad thats not what you would say if you had a heart attack." "Oh yeah Danica, what would I say?" "Oh Sh*t!" Oh such good times we had! The waiter probably thought mom was drunk...no just water. LDS fun. Before we ordered I had taken the menu insert and set it on the bench out of my way and forgot to give it to the waiter when he took our order so before we left I handed it to him and he kinda mumbled how his friend got his favorite pizza joint's menu tatooed on his back. I was just like, "really wow." He walked off and mom leaned over, "what did he say?" "I really have no idea!" But Dad cleared it up for us. We went home after the waiter took our chips and quit giving us refills...clearly he had plans to get out of there! Mom and I painted our toe nails and then we all just laid around because we were too stuffed to move. Saturday Cody and I woke up early and went to do a session at the temple. It was awfully cold but it was so nice to go to the temple. It is such a peaceful feeling. When we got back home we went to lunch and then to one store to buy some pants. Dad left for the valley to go to the hockey game and we got the quilt put on, made a Wal-Mart run to get 3 things but we ended up with a cart full. Isn't that funny how that works? We started the quilt and Cody would come check on us every once in a while and he admired my mom's straight lines and then he would come to where I was working and he said, "I guess the straight thing is over rated." So sweet. Sunday we went to church and enjoyed Dad's lesson. He is an amazing teacher and doesn't give himself enough credit but I love when he teaches! Mom cooked some amazing round steak w/ mashed potatoes and gravy and a cake with the fluffy frosting. Once again, we stuffed ourselves. We got about 1/3 of the quilt done. I'm sure they'll have it done by the time I get back up to Show Low. About 3:30 we finally pulled out of the driveway and I was waving bye I was biting my tongue so hard so that I wouldn't cry but it was inevitable...I did. We got home, killed a scorpion on the wall, Cody did homework, we went and cleaned, and I cried some more about how amazing our weekend was and how when I go home I love the feeling I have. My parents are the best! I love you guys.

Yep, that's pretty much the entire weekend in a nutshell! You covered every bit of it. I'll have to post another picture of the quilt. Dad counted and we have 16 more rows to quilt, so basically we're about halfway done I guess. Almost. The quilt is 30 rows across and down, so 16 is almost halfway. I'm going to have to get some help!

It was great having you home for a couple of days. We enjoyed the laughs and the fun. Sorry I had to duck out to go to the hockey game, but I was commited to go months ago. Thanks for the nice comments about my sunday lesson. It is not my most favorite calling ~ in fact, it is the hardest calling I have ever had. Mom works hard on the quilt, I help her role it. Ha! Thanks for coming up and brightening our weekend. You're a super loving, caring, emotional daughter ~ and we love you tons. Dad

Everyone fails to remember that the reason I jumped so bad at the electricuting gate is because I had been hit by ligthening just two weeks prior to that night while trying to open another metal gate. I had not even regained full use of my left arm when they pulled this joke on me. I survived, and we've had some good laughts, but lets remember the real reason - i'm just grateful to still be alive and they're blowing horns. Dad
