Babies! Babies! Babies R Us

Our baby is going to be a product of thrift stores and if we're lucky, Walmart. Not that its bad thing, just dreams were put to reality tonight when we did some LOOKING/SEARCHING at Babies R Us and Target. My word the necessities are so expensive. Guess I should've been in there two months ago figuring that out haha. Here ya go baby, let me just give up my body for you and along with every penny I've ever earned! While I sat there in the store in complete aw and wonderment and also shock I was very excited. I ran around looking at everything! I tried to find out what I like better, planes, trains, farm animals, jungle animals (for a boy) or which flower pattern for a girl. (Lets be honest, we're going to get something universal but its fun to dream and imagine the perfect little nursery) I think the best part was trying out the rockers and gliders. I love going shopping and sitting! haha. Hopefully I can talk Cody out of the $20 stroller that I think is intended for a baby doll and that its ok to buy quality stuff because we plan on a couple more kids! I know he'll pull through and I know somehow we can scrape up the money. I hear beggers make more money than ever expected. Maybe I'll do that out at the golf resort. The can will read, "Please help support the cleaning lady's baby."

(I accept check, cash, and pay pal!)

Danica, when I had Payten John and I had NO MONEY, it was the worst knowing that you are due in 4 weeks and have no crib, clothes nothing for this baby. Then someone who will remain nameless (his side)tells you that your baby dosent need a crib she can sleep in a dresser draw.I cried and was super sad for my due date at least in my tummy she had a bed I had nothing. Then my AWESOME Mom found a crib on Craigs list and a nursery set (Brand New)for her. Plus I had an amazing baby shower from my Sister's and Mom. I know your family is like mine they will never let your baby go without you are going to have the best baby shower. Craigs list is a really good place for cribs!!

Baby stuff is outrageous! But there are a few places here in the valley that Crystal and I have found to be "Little Treasure Troves". #1. - ROSS! She just picked up THREE georgous Sunday Dresses for Jayden and they were $1.99 EACH! We are talking name brand and petticoats! You can get blankets-those soft soft ones for $3.99 not the $20.00 they are asking at Babies R Us. They get new shipments-usually Tuesday's so keep and eye on them. We have some really nice new ones out here buy us there are some that look like they belong in the ghetto but they have good finds! #2. CREIGSLIST! Amanda got her Sleigh style crib and changing table-LOOKS brand new- for $100! and a beautiful dresser for $30. Crystal is currently watching Creigslist for a walker. Just narrow your search to your area and select ads with Photos only. I got RaLee a dresser for $40 and DJ's night stands for $20 and they threw in a new king size bed for free! You can also put a price limit on your searches. I bought Jessica's white crib for $50 and a Brand new Georgous Bedding set still in the bags for $30. #3. Babies R Us-stick to the clearance rack only! I don't even look at the other stuff. 4. Yard Sales- craigslist also lists your local yard sales and most of them will let you know if they have baby items. We have found tons of stuff with tags still on them...there are lots of wastefull people out there that buy stuff and never use it take advantage of them. And now is the season for yard sales---It's still cool out! 5. Burlington Coat Factory! They have the CUTEST clothes for cheap-we stick to the clearance stuff. 6. Heavenly Father- somehow he always provides 7 BABY SHOWERS! Hope that helps. Don't worry too much you'll find a way! 8. GRANPARENTS! Don't underestimate the power of a grandma shopping for the new grandbaby!

Two words...yard sales. You can't believe all the good stuff people with one, maybe two kids will get rid of. Go to the nicer neighborhoods and you'll be set. It is nice to dream at babies 'r us though. I'll be on the look out for you.

go swimming for golf balls and charge them to get them back. Also start buying every size diapers with every paycheck now so you won't have to when you aren't working. I know of someone who did that and they lasted 1 1/2 years!!

I just read your question about coupons. Yes RedPlum is a coupon source. There is also SmartSource and P&G(proctor and Gamble) that will put ads in the Sunday paper too. Some Sunday's are huge coupon weeks (4-5 inserts) others just 1-2. I learned about coupon SHopping by joining the group Coupon Sense. You can find them on line. It's fairly cheap to join-like $15 a month. The good thing about them is Sunday Evening they update their program with ALL of the stores good deals and tell you what coupon to use and how much it will cost. You can click on the item you want and even print a grocery list. Very easy. They also allow you to do search's. Just type in Milk and your best deal on milk shows up. BUT I felt they were just a little pricey after a while and learned to file my own coupons in a way that I don't need Coupon Sense any more. Because my book is filed by category and not by the week I can find any one I want in any store I go in. I go through Wednesday's grocery ad's and find the best deals but you don't have to Just take you book and go. Now there are STORE coupons in the grocery ads that you can COMBINE with a manufactures coupon. So if Fry's makes their own in store coupon for cereal you can combine it with a manufacturers coupon. I know it all sounds confusing but it's really easy. I buy 3 Sunday papers. I promise you within SIX weeks you will have hundreds of coupons and be finding great deals. File them by category in baseball card holders. Baby, Dairy, Canned goods, hair, etc... Take your book walk down the Aisle and look for the SALES ONLY. If Knorr noodle mixes are on sale for $1.00 each and you have a coupon for 50 cents Frys will double it up to a dollar so your noodles are free! My BEST deals are the by 10 for $10! You don't have to buy 10 to get the deal so they are only 1 dollar each. Ad a coupon to it and many times it's free or nearly free. If the item isn't on sale I don't buy it SAVE the coupon, be patient and that item will go on sale then use the coupon! You can also print coupons on line. azcentral.com or azfamily.com has a coupon section. I ONLY print a coupon I know I will use -INK-costs too much.

Oh danica:

1. Yes, babies are expensive.
2. Yes, they are worth it.
3. Listen to Liz's advice. She gave some really good tips.
I know when I was prego with the Brodster I was scared out of my mind and I wanted the cute nursery with the walls painted and all matchy-matchy. I wanted the best stroller and car seat. I wanted the best crib. The cute GAP clothes. The list goes on and on. Realistically though: I realized that I would just have to make things work the best I could. Brody doesn't have the best of anything...well...MAYBE the best parents (ha ha. just kidding) but he is happy and healthy and that is all that truely matters.
You'll be fine. You married a natzi money man...just like me...and I know he will make it work for you. Don't be afraid to shop second hand and DON'T get suckered into all the name brand stuff!!! It's hard- and I know it is all so cute...believe me...I still struggle with it. Brody's room/office/storage room still looks crappy and nothing like a nursery. I see all the cute nursery's on everyone's blog and I WANT to do it so bad. But then I look at the cost of paint, the cost of bedding, the cost of shelves, the cost of curtains, rugs, pillows, blankets...it all adds up pretty quick.
Just remember what's important: Happy and Healthy (and no snotty, runny noses...you don't want the poor kid to look homeless.) Second hand is GOOD...runny nose is bad! :)
Love ya.
